Messerschmitt Bf-109K for FSX  W.I.P.

The famous Bf-109, the most mass-produced aircraft in history, with some 30,000 completed. At this time the model is awaiting gauges and final testing.  Will be offered with and without the historically accurate fin markings.

Paint schemes (scroll down) are from acclaimed Bf-109K researchers JaPo and other photographic evidence, including period colour photographs. Of note is that Messerschmitts in 1945 were being assembled from components being manufactured in many different places and with access to different paint resources, which is why, for example, most have different-coloured tail units from the rest of the fuselage. Engines were also being manufactured in different locations, along with their cowlings, which is why they often do not match the fuselage camouflage. Different 109K production batches also have different camouflage styles, and these are also shown. Repairs and further sub-assemblies also account for mis-matched paint. In one of the VC screenshots, you may notice wording on the Revi gunsight: this was to remind late-war poorly trained pilots that the gunsight could be swiveled out of the way. The words here have been traced exactly from an existing Revi gunsight. The large numbers painted onto the rear of many fuselages were the last three digits of the aircraft's serial number, and were supposed to be over-painted by a unit- identifying colour band. A shortage of paint and a shortage of time often meant these numbers were left prominently visible.
